Carpooling is a great way to save time and money as well as get to know the neighborhood kids and their parents. Carpooling can enable you to make the trip to and from school once in a week rather than every day. Here are some back-to-school carpooling tips to make it work for you.

  • Get to know the parents of all the children you’ll be taking to school and get contact information before school starts.
  • Seat the children with other children their age and those that share interests.
  • Bring along extra water and snacks.
  • Leave early enough in case of detours, accidents or excessively heavy traffic.
  • Bring along some playing cards or simple games the younger children can play.
  • If the children enjoy music, make up some playlists.
  • Make sure your vehicle is in good shape and has plenty of fuel.
  • Check that seatbelts and booster seats work properly.
